Razorbacks Record Third Straight Top-Five Finish

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The No. 31 Arkansas men’s golf team continued to move up the leaderboard in the final round of the Sea Best Invitational on Tuesday, finishing fourth in the 15-team field at Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.

The Razorbacks recorded rounds of 291-272-290 – 853 (+13) to finish fourth overall and post their third straight top-five finish dating back to the fall season. No. 2 Florida captured the title at 4-under, while Lipscomb (+3) was third and No. 32 Liberty (+9) took fourth.

Junior Alvaro Ortiz paced the squad with a 1-over 71 in the final to record his third straight top-10 finish, posting 75-66-71 – 212 (+2) to finish T-8th overall. His second round 4-under 66 tied for the second-lowest round of the championship and marked his fourth round in the 60’s in the last three tournaments.

Freshman William Buhl recorded the best outing of his collegiate career with rounds of 73-69-72 – 214 (+4) to finish T-15th and capture his first top-20 finish. His second round 1-under 69 was his third round under par as a Razorback.

Freshmen Dylan Naidoo and Luis Garza finished deadlocked at T-20th overall, as Naidoo posted 73-72-71 – 216 (+6) and Garza signed for 71-67-78 – 216 (+6) to record his fifth consecutive top-20 finish.

Sophomore Charles Kim opened his final round with three birdies in the first seven holes and finished T-36th overall with rounds of 74-70-76 – 220 (+10). He paced the 83-player field in par five scoring at 4-under with four birdies and no bogeys.

Freshman Mason Overstreet played as an individual in his sixth collegiate event and finished T-52nd overall with rounds of 75-74-74 – 223 (+13)

The Razorbacks led the field in par five scoring at 7-under, three shots better than Jacksonville and Liberty. Arkansas opens the spring campaign with an 11-3 head-to-head mark to bring its 2016-17 record to 53-20 overall.

Arkansas returns to action on Feb. 18-19 at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Florida. The 54-hole event will take place at Mark Bostick Golf Club.
