Razorbacks Remain Inside Top Five

NEW ORLEANS – Coming off a solid road-outing in Nashville, the Arkansas men’s track and field team remains among the top five best programs in the country in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, announced this afternoon.

The national team rankings are compiled by mathematical formula based on national descending order lists. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points. Preseason rankings will include marks from 2016, and the National Team Computer Rankings will continue to do so through the third regular season edition.

Four Razorbacks are currently ranked in the top five in their respective events: Jack Bruce (mile), Obi Igbokwe (200, 400), Eric Janise (400) and Clive Pullen (triple jump). Igbokwe is the only student-athlete in the country with an NCAA top-eight performance in both the 200 and 400.

Pullen remains the top-ranked collegiate athlete in the triple jump, following his PR leap of 16.66m/54-8 at the Arkansas Invitational. Cross country All-American Jack Bruce is No. 1 in the SEC in the mile and is among the top-three best in the nation in the event with his first-place meriting performance of 4 minutes and .72 seconds at last weekend’s Vanderbilt Invitational.

Arkansas heads into this weekend’s Razorback Invitational as the fourth-highest ranked Southeastern Conference program. The Hogs are joined in the top five by No. 1 Florida, No. 3 LSU and No. 4 Georgia, all of whom will be in attendance at the meet.
