Razorbacks Remain on Top in Regional and Natio

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After finishing second for the first time in over two years on Saturday, the University of Arkansas men’s cross country team remained on top of the South Central Regional Coaches poll and the MONDO Division I National Poll released on Tuesday.

The Razorbacks finished second, for the first time since the 1997 national championships, behind perennial Division II power, Abilene Christian, at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., on Saturday. The 2nd place finish broke a 16 meet winning streak for the Hogs.
In the regional poll, the Razorbacks were ranked No. 1 for the third straight week receiving all seven of the first-place votes. Rounding out the top five are Texas, Tulane, Rice and Texas A&M.
In the national poll, the gap between Arkansas and Stanford tightened with the Razorbacks receiving 9 first-place votes and the Cardinal receiving 7 first-place votes. Colorado, Providence and Wisconsin finish out the top 5.
No other Southeastern Conference or South Central Regional team is ranked in the national poll.
The Razorbacks return to action on Oct. 14 when they host the Chili Pepper Invitational at the Razorback Cross Country Course in Fayetteville, Ark.
