Razorbacks Set Spring Slate With Four Matches

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Just a few months removed from its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five years, the Arkansas soccer team kicks into gear its preparation for the 2018 season with a series of practices and a four-match exhibition slate that was released by head coach Colby Hale on Monday.

The Razorbacks will face two foes from the Southeastern Conference in Mississippi State and Ole Miss, as well as Kansas State out of the Big 12. Arkansas will also have a unique opponent in late March as it will host the Tulsa Soccer Club U15 boys team. All start times have yet to be determined.

The schedule begins on Saturday, March 3 when Arkansas welcomes Mississippi State to Razorback Field. Arkansas claimed a 1-0 victory over Mississippi State back in September as part of its conference opener. Freshman Parker Goins scored the game-winner of that match in the 88th minute with a nice assist from Nayeli Perez.

On March 30, the Tulsa Soccer Club U15 boys team will face off with the Razorbacks to complete the home portion of the spring schedule.

Then, on April 15, Arkansas will travel south to Conway, Arkansas to face Ole Miss at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex on the University of Central Arkansas campus.

Arkansas will finish the spring slate on Sunday, April 22 when it travels to Manhattan, Kansas to take on the Kansas State Wildcats. The Razorbacks have never faced the Wildcats during the regular season or the postseason.

Arkansas is coming off an 11-win season from a year ago, its ninth 10-win season in school history and third under head coach Colby Hale. Of those 11 wins, nine came by way of a shutout and the team finished with 10 shutouts overall after one scoreless draw. The 10 clean sheets were good for second in the SEC and tied for the most in school history (2009).
