Razorbacks to Celebrate NCAA Title with Pep Rally Tuesday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In celebration of the program’s first-ever national title, the University of Arkansas will host a pep rally for its women’s track and field team Tuesday, March 17, from 12:30-1 p.m. at the Arkansas Union Mall. The pep rally is open to the public with free pizza and Pepsi products for those in attendance. Head coach Lance Harter will attend with members of the championship team in addition to the Razorback pep band and spirit squad.

Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long and Arkansas’ Associated Student Government President Daniel McFarland will join Harter and senior All-American Chrishuna Williams in addressing the crowd. In addition to pizza and soft drinks, there will also be NCAA autograph card giveaways. Paid meter parking is available in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage.

The top-ranked Razorback women defended its home track and made history last weekend by winning the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center. On their way to scoring a program-best 63 points, Arkansas collected national titles from Dominique Scott at 3,000 meters, Sandi Morris in the pole vault and the distance-medley relay team of Scott, Therese Haiss, Jessica Kamilos and Sparkle McKnight which ran the second-fastest time in NCAA history.

Arkansas began its championship season with a win at the 2015 SEC Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky. The league title was the program’s fifth SEC indoor title and its second conference crown of the year; the Razorbacks also won the cross country title last fall. Dating back to their 2013 SEC indoor title, Harter and his team have won five of the past seven SEC competitions.

A tape-delay broadcast of the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships will air Monday, March 23, starting at 6 p.m. on ESPNU. Replays of #NCAATF day one and two are currently available on ESPN3.com and through the WatchESPN app.
