FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team is set to open its fall season at the Southern Collegiate in Athens, Georgia, this weekend. The team will begin play Friday and continue through Monday.

The Razorbacks enter the weekend with three players ranked in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Preseason Rankings that were released earlier this month. In singles, Mike Redlicki ranks No. 11 nationally while Jose Salazar ranks No. 45, making Arkansas one of six Southeastern Conference teams with two players in the top 50 nationally. Redlicki also combines with Adam Sanjurjo for a No. 32 national ranking in doubles.

There are a total of 170 singles players and 81 doubles pairs representing 32 different schools competing at the Southern Intercollegiate, including Arkansas and fellow SEC members Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

The field has been divided into three singles divisions and two doubles divisions. Play is scheduled to begin Friday at 8 a.m. CDT with Division I and II singles matches at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Day one action is set to conclude with Division I and II doubles matches.

“We’re eager to get started this fall,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “We’re in a preparation phase before the season starts in January. The national championships are going to be in Athens, so we’re hoping to start and finish the season at the same place. It’s exciting to get started.”

Other Razorbacks competing Friday will include Sanjurjo, Juan Marino and Johan den Toom in the Division I singles draw and Branch Terrell, Jacob Herndon and Austin Robles in the Division II singles draw.
