Razorbacks To Play Single Exhibition Against Omaha

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — On top of the 10-match home slate, fans will get an early opportunity to see this year’s Razorback soccer team when the it plays an exhibition match against Omaha on Thursday, Aug. 10 at Razorback Field. First kick is slated for 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Even with it being an “unofficial” start to the season, Arkansas will continue working towards its season opener at SMU on Aug. 18. The Razorbacks will officially open the home schedule on Aug. 25 against perennial Big 10 power Penn State at 6:30 p.m. The first practice for the 2017 squad will be on Aug. 2.

As head coach Colby Hale enters his sixth season at the helm, the Razorbacks are hoping to continue its success that it has had under Hale since his hiring prior to the 2012 season. Arkansas has advanced to three NCAA Tournaments in the last four years, all under Hale, and have won nine or more matches in four out of his five seasons.

14 letterwinners, including 12 starters return from last year’s team that won a school record 18 matches, 10 at the friendly confines of Razorback Field, which was also a program record.

Seniors Katie Kienstra, Jessi Hartzler, and Hannah Neece lead the charge as they made up 10 of Arkansas’ 51 goals from a season ago. Hartzler finished 2016 as the 19th-ranked player in the Southeastern Conference by TopDrawerSoccer.com and scored eight goals last year, good for a tie for third-most on the team. Kienstra and Neece both added one goal of their own to the overall total and were major components during Arkansas’ run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Season tickets are now on sale for $25. Each season ticket order will come with one 2017 Razorback Soccer scarf.  Single-game tickets can be purchased for $5 at the Razorback Field box office, which opens one hour before kickoff on game days. Current students can be admitted with their UA ID, and children 17 and under are admitted free.
