Razorbacks Top Auburn 8-5 to Advance in SEC Ba

HOOVER, Ala. – Arkansas designated hitter Andrew Wishy earned three hits and drove in three runs while Razorback reliever Scott Roehl tossed four plus innings of scoreless relief as the Hogs topped Auburn 8-5 on Thursday afternoon at the 2002 Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament.
With the win Arkansas, the number eight seed, advances to Friday’s 6 p.m. game in the bracket and will face top-seeded South Carolina. The game will be televised in Arkansas by Fox Sports Southwest and will also be carried by Fox Sports South. The Razorbacks eliminated fifth-seeded Auburn with the victory.
Roehl (4-0) picked up the win after coming on in relief of starter Gary Hogan Jr. in the fifth inning. The sophomore allowed only one hit over the final 4.2 innings to clinch the victory. Auburn reliever Arnold Hughey (2-3) was tagged with the loss.
Wishy led the Hogs’ offensive attack with three hits and three two-out RBI. Catcher Cody Clark continued his hot hitting with three hits and an RBI in four at bats. Center fielder Michael Conner tallied three hits and scored three times in the Razorbacks’ win.
