Razorbacks Treat Home Crowd With Win

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas beat Oral Roberts 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Razorback Field capping the team’s third game of the spring exhibition schedule and improving to 2-0-1.

The Razorbacks scored first during the 40th minute of play after senior midfielder Rachel Riggs headed in a chipped free kick by senior midfielder Claire Kelley.

Oral Roberts managed to score an equalizing goal in the 54th minute, but Kelley scored her second goal of the spring season 10 minutes later to ice the game for the Razorbacks. Two weeks ago, Kelley scored the gamewinning goal in a 1-0 win over Illinois. She was assisted by redshirt freshman hybrid midfielder/forward Reid Sibley.

“There were some good moments today,” Arkansas head soccer coach Colby Hale said. “We scored two nice goals and created some chances. That’s something we’ve focused on. We haven’t been able to put the four phases together yet and that will be the goal next Saturday. Some people say spring results don’t matter, but for us, they always matter. Winning isn’t easy and we found a way to win today.”

Arkansas will travel to Little Rock next Saturday to face the Northwestern State Demons at Burns Park. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. CDT.
