Razorbacks Wrap Up Weekend In Florida
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – The Razorbacks wrapped up a successful weekend at the FGCU Collegiate open Sunday, after a weekend of facing teams four teams in a team based tournament that included Florida Gulf Coast, Memphis, Illinois, and Louisville.
The Razorbacks, who split play each day over the weekend with the Kentucky Wildcats, went 8-4 in singles matches on the weekend, while posting a 5-1 record in doubles play.
In the final day of action, Jose Alonso improved to 3-0 in singles play over the weekend with a 6-0, 6-2 two set win over Alex Wesbrooks of Louisville. Enrique Paya picked up Arkansas’ other singles win by topping Fredrif Moe of Louisville in two sets 6-0, 7-5. Adam Sanjurjo dropped a tough-fought three-set battle to Fabian Salle (Louisville) 6-2, 1-6 before dropping the tiebreaker 5-10.
In doubles play, the Razorbacks posted a perfect 2-0 record for the second-consecutive day. In their first weekend of action as a pair, Adam Sanjurjo and Enrique Paya posted a 2-1 record including winning Sunday’s matchup over Vuk Budic/Gui Gomes (Illinois), 6-4. Jose and Pedro Alonso went unscathed over the weekend, posting a perfect 3-0 record, that included a win over Nicolas Tibaudin/Felipe Ramirez (FGCU), 6-4 in their final matchup Sunday.
