BRYAN, Ark. – The 11th-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team came off the course in 12th place but moved up to 10th after third round action at the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in Bryan, Texas, Friday.
The 24-team field was delayed at 3:30 p.m. until 5:20 p.m. because of lightning. When the second flight of teams returned to the course, darkness became a factor.
Six teams were unable to finish the round including the top three teams and the team immediately in front of the Razorbacks. Arkansas is currently 33-over for three rounds. They are one shot out of a three-way tie for eighth, and two strokes out of a tie for sixth. Arkansas is just six strokes back of fifth place.
Play resumes at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with the completion of round three. The final round will be re-paired and the first tee times are scheduled for 8 a.m. Arkansas’ tee time will be determined in the morning.
More inclement weather is in the forecast for Saturday.
