Razorbacks Competing in SEC Golf Championships

ST. SIMON ISLAND, Ga. – The Arkansas golf team travels to Georgia for the 2007 Southeastern Conference Championships Friday through Sunday at Sea Island’s Seaside Course.

Senior Beau Glover, junior Barrett Lais, sophomores Andrew Landry and Jason Turner, and freshman Dalton Owens are competing for the Razorbacks.

First-year head coach Brad McMakin’s club has tied for first in one tournament this year, finished second in another and had five other top seven finishes.

Landry, a transfer from Lamar and a Groves, Texas, native, has been Arkansas’ top finisher in the last six tournaments. He ranks fourth in the SEC with a 72.09 stroke average and has had five top five finishes this year, including tying for second at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic.

Turner, from Little Rock, is next with a 74.38 average and has a best finish of third at the Del Walker Intercollegiate.

Lais, from Joplin, Mo., is next with a 74.42 average, followed by Glover, from Sherwood, Ark., at 75.11, and Owens, from Mt. Vernon, Mo., at 75.38 with a best of ninth at the Lochinvar Challenge.

Arkansas finished seventh last year on the same course with rounds of 295, 288, 286 for an 869 total.
