Razorbacks face Tulsa for a second time

FAYETTEVILE- The University of Arkansas softball team, now 24-21 overall, travels to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Tulsa currently has an overall record 32-11 and is 14-4 in Conference USA. Arkansas and Tulsa met earlier this season for a single game matchup on March 28 in Fayetteville in which Tulsa took the game 6-0. With two weeks to go in the regular season, Arkansas is still led at the plate by sophomore shortstop Clarisa Navarro, who is averaging .347 with 51 hits and 24 RBI.

The Razorbacks are coming off a 2-2 week including at 5-1 victory at Auburn and a 2-0 win over UMKC. Sophomore Chloe Oprzedek was consistent at the plate last weekend batting .385 and collecting five hits.

Junior Chelsea Cohen split this weekend collecting a record of 1-1 against the Tigers. She threw 14.0 innings and struck out nine batters while only allowing five walks. Fellow junior pitcher Hope McLemore made her return to the circle starting the game on Saturday and throwing 2.1 innings. McLemore is returning from preseason surgery. Tulsa is coming into the mid-week single game matchup ranked 18th in the NCAA in batting average as a team. The Golden Hurricane is batting .315. Tulsa recently played host to Houston and took the series two games to one. The Golden Hurricane is led at the plate by sophomore Jill Barrett who is averaging .430 with 64 hits and 20 RBI. In the circle, junior Lacey Middlebrooks has a record of 15-4 with an ERA of 2.02 and 110 strikeouts."We have to treat Tulsa like an SEC opponent," says head coach Mike Larabee. "They are an SEC caliber team and solid in all areas.
