Razorbacks-Gators tonight 8 p.m.

The Razorbacks picked up their first SEC win of the season at home against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but now must face perennial SEC powerhouse Florida at Bud Walton Arena on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. on a game nationally televised by ESPN.

Arkansas (8-9, 1-1 SEC) has played very well in their last four games, despite the final scores. The Razorbacks dropped a one-point game to then No. 24 Alabama-Birmingham, took then No. 2 Texas to a one-point game with one minute to play, fell on the road to Mississippi State by just two points after working back from a 19-point first-half deficit and then upended Alabama at Bud Walton Arena, 71-59.

Marshawn Powell has been huge in his first two Southeastern Conference games. He leads SEC freshmen in both scoring and rebounding as he netted 25 against the Bulldogs and 18 against the Crimson Tide. Powell also recorded his third double-double of the season against Alabama. In fact, three Razorbacks had double-doubles in the game as Mike Washington scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Courtney Fortson scored 12 points and dished 10 assists.

Florida (12-5, 1-2 SEC) got back on the winning side of things after losing its first two SEC Contests. The Gators defeated LSU at home, 72-58, to move to 1-2 in SEC play after falling on the road to Vanderbilt and at home to Kentucky. A well-balanced club, five Gator players average double-digit scoring and those same five all hit for double digits against LSU, led by Kenny Boynton’s 18 points.

The Arkansas-Florida game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. This is Arkansas’ first appearance on the lead network this season after three ESPN2 games and one on ESPNU. The contest can also be heard on radio across the state of Arkansas on the Razorback Sports Network with Mike Nail and Rick Schaeffer giving the calls. Nail is in his 29th and final season as the play-by-play voice of the Razorbacks.

Looking past the Florida contest, Arkansas hits the road for their next game, a homecoming event for head coach John Pelphrey as the Razorbacks go to Rupp Arena to take on the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, Jan. 23. A return matchup against Mississippi State follows at Bud Walton on Jan. 28.
