Razorbacks have a big Sunday

FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team hosts Alabama Sunday celebrating Senior Day and Pink Day in the final home game of the season.

Arkansas (12-14, 4-9 SEC) also plays in front of a television crowd with the game with the Crimson Tide (10-16, 2-11 SEC) televised by Cox.

“We’re excited to get back to the court,” Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. “This team has worked hard all season to get better and they are enjoying the games.”

Arkansas plans a strong finish to the 2009-10 season and has delivered with three wins in a row this week. Thursday’s win with Ole Miss was big in a series dominated by the Lady Rebles. Arkansas played back-and-forth ball for much of the first half taking a 37-33 lead into the break. The Razorbacks never trailed in the second period winning, 67-59.

The meeting with Alabama is the second of the year for these teams. It was an overtime thriller in Tuscaloosa earlier this year for the first meeting between these teams. Arkansas led much of the second half but Bama closed fast tying the game on the last shot in regulation. Arkansas’ Charity Ford scored the first four points leading the Razorbacks to an 8-0 run to start the overtime all but securing the win for Arkansas.

In addition to Sunday’s game, fans will be treated to an introduction of Tusk III who makes his debut from noon-2 p.m. as well as a postgame concert from Will Gunselman.
