FAYETTEVILLE — The Razorback soccer team will hit the road this weekend to play two nationally-ranked teams in No. 14 Kentucky on Friday, Sept. 27, and No. 20 South Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 29. The match in Lexington, Ky., to open the trip is slated for a 6:30 p.m. kick. After being ranked for the first time in program history after their 7-0 start, the Razorbacks continue to receive high praise from around the nation. In the first release of the RPI standings on Monday, Arkansas came in at No. 23, good for fourth-best in the SEC, which posted five teams in the top 25. Weekend foes Kentucky and South Carolina are ranked 39th and 15th, respectively. "We are really excited for this weekend,” head coach Colby Hale said. “Top level teams always bring out the best in us. We had another really good week of training and the opportunity to go play two quality nationally-ranked teams is why they came here. We’ve shown that when we do what we do, we can compete against anyone in the country. This will certainly be two great tests, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.” Arkansas comes into the weekend with a 7-2 overall record and a 0-1 mark in the SEC. Kentucky (7-1-1), who was victorious in its SEC opener at Auburn last week, also has seven wins and is 4-0-1 in Lexington. Kentucky leads the all-time series at 5-11-2, with the Razorbacks picking up the win in last year’s matchup. Arkansas’ win over the Wildcats last season marked the program first over a ranked opponent, as Kentucky entered the match ranked 18th in the nation. Both weekend matches are scheduled for audio stream on ArkansasRazorbacks.com. Fans can also follow along through live stats on ArkansasRazorbacks.com, while in-match updates will also be provided through the team’s Twitter account @RazorbackSoccer.
