FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ soccer team continues its season-opening home weekend by entertaining Texas on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Razorback Field.
Arkansas began the year with Friday’s opener against Austin Peay and the homestand continues with Wednesday’s 7 p.m. contest against Missouri State. The Razorbacks are 1-0 following the 2-1 win over the Lady Govs. Arkansas scored a goal in each half and out-shot APSU 20-9 with a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Texas was 11-9-1 a year ago, including 3-4-1 in the Big 12. The teams have not met since the 2000 season when the Longhorns claimed a 3-2 overtime victory in Fayetteville.
UT leads the series 3-0-1.
"Texas is extremely talented," head coach Colby Hale says. "We tell the kids when we play well, we’re good enough to beat anyone. When we don’t play well, we’re not good enough to beat anybody. They understand that a big part of who we are is the sum of our parts – working hard and playing as a group. That’s who we have to be to win games."
