Razorbacks in summer ball

FAYETTEVILLE – After the program’s second consecutive appearance in an NCAA Super Regional, members of the University of Arkansas baseball team are continuing their playing days in several summer ball leagues. Fourteen Razorbacks are spread throughout six leagues across the country.

DJ Baxendale, James McCann and Matt Vinson are playing in the prestigious Cape Cod League. McCann is suiting up for the Cotuit Kettleers, while Baxendale and Vinson are teammates for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. All three players are making their respective debuts for the Cape Cod League.

In the Alaska League, pitchers Geoffrey Davenport and Sam Murphy are scheduled to play together for the Mat-Su Miners. This will mark the second consecutive summer for Murphy with the Miners. Three other Hogs-Collin Kuhn, Jacob Morris and Matt Reynolds-are playing their summer ball in the Northwoods League. Kuhn is in his third season in the Northwoods League and second with the Green Bay Bulldogs. Morris and Reynolds are playing for the Eau Claire Express and St. Cloud River Bats, respectively.

Down South, Zack Hall, Garrett Methvin and Zac Russell are all participating in the Texas Collegiate League. Hall and Russell are teammates for the North Texas Copperheads, while Methvin is pitching for the East Texas Pump Jacks. This is Russell’s second season with the Copperheads. Derrick Bleeker and Franco Brolyes are both playing in summer leagues in their home states of Colorado and Arkansas, respectively.
