FAYETTEVILLE – Collegiate summer baseball leagues throughout the country are winding down. Here’s an update on how current Razorbacks are faring so far this summer.
Cape Cod Baseball League
Freshman Barrett Astin has appeared in seven games, including three starts, with the Wareham Gatemen. Astin has a 2-1 record with a 2.31 ERA. In 27.1 innings, Astin has allowed nine runs, seven earned, and struck out 15.
Redshirt sophomore Trent Daniel pitched in four games, all in relief, for the Cotuit Kettleers. Daniel ended his summer with a 1-0 record and a 4.05 ERA. In 6.2 innings, Daniel allowed three runs on three hits and struck out four.
After joining the USA Collegiate National Team, sophomore Matt Reynolds has returned to the Cape to play for Yarmouth-Dennis. In 18 games with the Red Sox, Reynolds is hitting .318 with two homers and 16 RBI. He ranks fourth on the team in batting average and RBI.
Freshman Ryne Stanek has started three games for the Bourne Braves and has a 2-1 record with a 4.50 ERA. Stanek has averaged a strikeout an inning, fanning 16 in 16 innings of work. The freshman hurler also has pitched this summer for the USA Collegiate National Team.
Sophomore Jimmy Bosco has had a strong summer offensively with the La Crosse Loggers. In 22 games, Bosco ranks second on the team with a .337 batting average with three home runs and 18 RBI. Bosco has a .420 on-base percentage and a .482 slugging percentage this summer.
Freshman Jacob Rice has seen time in 28 games for the Duluth Huskies and is hitting .182 with two doubles, two triples and seven RBI.
Freshman Nolan Sanburn has pitched in six games for the Battle Creek Bombers, compiling a 0-1 record with a 2.33 ERA. In 19.1 innings of work, Sanburn has allowed just five runs on nine hits, struck out 24 and walked just nine.
Freshman Jake Wise swung the bat well this summer for Duluth, leading the team with a .373 batting average in 20 games played. Wise also added a homer and drove in 11 runs for Duluth.
California Collegiate League
Redshirt freshman Franco Broyles finished his summer with the Glendale Angelenos hitting .200 with a homer and nine RBI. Broyles, who was selected to play in the California Collegiate League All-Star Game, ranked tied for second on the team with 17 stolen bases and was caught stealing just three times.
Sophomore Randall Fant has pitched in eight games, with five starting appearances, for Glendale and has a 0-2 record with a 7.27 ERA. Fant has struck out 25 batters in 26 innings.
Freshman Jeff Harvill has made 11 relief appearances for Glendale and has a 0-0 record with a save and a 3.95 ERA. Harvill has fanned 15 in 13.2 innings and held opposing hitters to a .188 batting average.
Alaska Baseball League
Sophomore Matt Vinson is hitting .240 with a homer and seven RBI in 32 games played, including 29 starts, for the Glacier Pilots. Vinson is also 8-for-10 in stolen base attempts for the Pilots.
Coastal Plain League
Junior Bo Bigham has joined the Edenton Steamers for the remainder of the summer. In 10 games, including seven starts with the Steamers, Bigham is hitting .394 with a homer and 10 RBI.
Freshman Eric Fisher is hitting .238 with a home run, three doubles and four RBI in 15 games played, including 11 starts, for the Forest City Owls. Fisher has also scored seven runs.
Freshman Colby Suggs has made nine appearances out of the bullpen for Forest City and has a 0-0 record with two saves and a 4.09 ERA. Suggs has pitched 11 innings, striking out seven and holding opposing hitters to a .205 batting average.
Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League
Redshirt sophomore Kyle Atkins has played in 18 games with the Lexington Hustlers and is hitting .177 with four RBI. Atkins leads the Hustlers with 11 stolen bases and has not been caught trying to steal.
