Razorbacks in top 10 home on Friday

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ gymnastics team has losses on the road to top 10-ranked teams in each of the last two weeks, but the Razorbacks have maintained their national top 10 ranking.

Arkansas is No. 10 in the country after opening the pre-season at No. 8 and moving up to No. 7 for two weeks. Arkansas opened the year with a victory over No. 20 Arizona, and the Wildcats are still No. 20. UA’s losses were at Florida, which is now No. 4 in the nation, and at Alabama, which is the new No. 1-ranked team in the country.

In the event rankings, Arkansas is No. 22 on vault, tied for No. 6 on bars, No. 5 on beam and No. 10 on floor.

In the NCAA South Central Region rankings, the Razorbacks are No. 3 behind Oklahoma and Nebraska. In the individual events, Arkansas is No. 6 on vault, tied for No. 2 on bars, No. 2 on beam and No. 3 on floor.

Individually, sophomore Jaime Pisani is No. 9 in the nation in the all-around while senior Casey Jo Magee is tied for No. 13. Senior Sarah Nagashima is tied for No. 15 on beam, Pisani is No. 17 on floor and Magee is tied for No. 24 on bars.

In the regional rankings, Pisani is No. 2, Magee tied for No. 3 and Nagashima No. 7 in the all-around. Magee is tied for No. 6 on vault while freshman Amanda Siebert is No. 10 and Pisani is tied for No. 16. On bars, Magee is No. 7, senior Amy DeFilippo No. 8, Pisani tied for No. 9 and Nagashima No. 18. On beam, Nagashima is No. 4, DeFilippo No. 10, Pisani tied for No. 12, junior Stacy Bartlett tied for No. 16 and Magee No. 19. On floor, Pisani is tied for No. 3, Magee is No. 11 and freshman Kelci Lewis No. 14.

After consecutive meets on the road, the Razorbacks are back in Barnhill Arena on Friday. Arkansas plays host to No. 12 Kentucky in a 7 p.m. meet.

Promotions for Friday include a Signature Bank Backpack giveaway to the first 500 fans and a UA student-only drawing for a $250 gift certificate for school supplies at the UA Bookstore.

In addition, several professors of team members will be recognized at the conclusion of the meet.
