FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will make its final SEC weekend road trip of the season, beginning Friday night with a matchup at Alabama. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT) at Foster Auditorium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Razorbacks enter the weekend with a 14-10 overall record and a 7-6 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
Following the weekend opener, Arkansas will continue its trip through the state of Alabama with a Sunday afternoon date at Auburn. The match between the Razorbacks and Tigers is set for a 1:30 p.m. start at Auburn Arena. Both matches will be broadcast on KXUA 88.3 FM in Fayetteville.
Friday’s match will be the 41st meeting in the all-time series, and second of the season, between Arkansas and Alabama. The Razorbacks own a 32-8 advantage against the Crimson Tide and have won 12 of the 17 matches played in Tuscaloosa. Earlier this season, Alabama snapped a seven-match skid against Arkansas with a four-set win Oct. 11 at Barnhill Arena. Senior Hayley Koop had a team-high 15 kills while senior libero Emily Helm led all players with 14 digs.
Sunday’s match at Auburn will also be the 41st meeting in the all-time series, and second of the year. With their win earlier this season, the Razorbacks increased their series lead to 33-7. Arkansas carries a 16-4 advantage on the Tigers’ home floor. In the first meeting between the teams this season, junior Meredith Hays and freshman Breana Jones paced the offense with 16 and 12 kills, respectively, and Helm registered a match-high 20 digs.
