FORT MYERS, Fla.- Fresh off Friday’s big win over Miami in the first round of the Embassy Suites Kick-Off Classic at Florida Gulf Coast University on Friday, the Arkansas soccer teams meets the host Eagles on Sunday at noon.
Erin Moskos scored at 56:02 and goalkeeper Britni Williams have five saves to tie the school record of 28 wins to give the Razorbacks the victory. Miami is from the powerful Atlantic Coast Conference, but FGCU was 11-5-3 last year in the Atlantic Sun.
Head coach Erin Aubry didn’t waste any team getting her team to try to focus on the weekend finale.
"Winning is supposed to feel great and we’re supposed to enjoy it," she said. "But we need to do that while we’re preparing ahead for the next one."
The Razorbacks are 2-1 after the win, which Aubry credited to better mentality.
"We stayed in the moment," she said. "We need to focus on one day at a time and one opponent at a time."
Against Miami, Aubry went with a starting lineup of Yvonne Desjarlais and Moskos at forward; Rachel Carlson, Jessie Givens, Beth McVean and Kelsey Allison at midfielder; Laurel Pastor, Melanie Foncham, Kailey Anders and Lauren Hallauer at defender; and Williams at goalkeeper.
Sunday’s game is the first meeting between the two teams.
