FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sporting a deep roster that features six players that have NCAA Regional experience while returning four players from last year’s NCAA Championship squad, the University of Arkansas was tabbed No. 10 in Golfweek.com’s Preseason Top 30 countdown on Sunday. Golfweek.com counting down until the start of the collegiate golf season by unveiling one team each day from its preseason top 30. The Razorbacks finished 10th at last year’s NCAA Championships en route to a final ranking of No. 8 by Golfstat and No. 11 by Golfweek. “Preseason rankings are a good motivator, but it’s also important that we aren’t content,” said head coach Brad McMakin, who has led the Razorbacks to 18 team titles in his seven years at the helm. “We’ve got a great group of guys coming back and a good crop of newcomers. This is going to be a fun team to coach and I can’t wait for the season to get started.” With the addition of UNLV transfer Blake Biddle in the offseason, Arkansas now has five players that have earned postseason accolades in their careers, highlighted by a pair of All-American honorees and two others that have earned the Conference Freshman of the Year award in their respective league. As a whole, Arkansas’ roster has a combined 43 top 10s. A three-time Palmer Cup participant for Team Europe and the reigning SEC Individual Champion, senior Sebastian Cappelen was highlighted as the team’s “Go-To-Guy” in Golfweek’s preview. Cappelen is the program’s all-time leader in stroke average (72.0) and is a three-time PING All-American, highlighted by last year’s third team honor.
