FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team will participate in its first SEC dual meet of the season at LSU on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The team is coming off two successful competitions on the road.
On Oct. 4, the Razorbacks placed first at the North Texas Relay Invitational in Southlake, Texas, beating out North Texas, Southern Methodist and Houston. The team collected nine of 10 wins for 414 total points.
The Razorbacks also placed first in a dual meet against North Texas on Oct. 5 in Denton, Texas. The team won 14 of 16 events for a final point total of 207-91. The dual meet wins were led by junior Susanna White (Forest, Va.) and sophomore Anna Mayfield (San Antonio, Texas) who each contributed to three wins. The team has won 11 straight dual meets and was 10-1 last season.
Arkansas and LSU have met 15 times in history beginning in the 1978-79 season. The Razorbacks will be seeking their fifth dual meet win over the Tigers. The teams most recently met in 2008 when the Razorbacks defeated the Tigers 151-149 at the Arkansas Natatorium.
LSU’s squad is coming off a seventh-place finish at the SEC Championships last season and return five NCAA qualifiers. LSU’s season opened Friday with a dual meet in Baton Rouge, La., against reigning SEC Champion Georgia.
The Razorback swimming and diving team will return home after its meet at LSU for an 11 a.m. dual meet against Nebraska on Oct. 26 at the Arkansas Natatorium. Admission is free to the only meet hosted by Arkansas during the fall semester.
