Oxford, Miss. — The No. 54 University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will open play in the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against No. 33 Alabama at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
“We are really looking forward to the SEC Tournament,” head coach Robert Cox said. “We will see some of the best teams in the country this week. The key is coming out strong in doubles play and carrying that momentum into singles.”
The 2013 SEC Tournament will be held in Oxford, Miss., and hosted by The University of Mississippi. Eleven out of 13 of the teams in the tournament are ranked in the top-25 in the country with Georgia being the highest-ranked SEC team at No. 3.
The Razorbacks are coming into the tournament having won four out of their last five matches and closing their 2013 regular season with an overall record of 16-15.
This will be the second meeting between the Razorbacks and the Crimson Tide this season, with Alabama taking the first match 6-1. Arkansas took the doubles point in that match, with No. 28 doubles pair of Manfred Jeske and Mike Nott clinching the point for the Hogs.
The winner of Wednesday’s match will go on to play Ole Miss on Thursday at 3 p.m.
