FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Six members of the Arkansas Razorback cross country and track and field teams were named to the 2008 Southeastern Conference Freshmen Academic Honor Roll the league office recently announced.

The Razorbacks were in fifth place with 46 selections. Tennessee and Vanderbilt tied for sixth place with 44 with Auburn (43), Georgia (41), Mississippi State (40), Ole Miss (31) and LSU (20) rounding out the 12 member institutions.

“We are proud of our Razorback freshmen student-athletes and their accomplishments in athletic competition and in the classroom,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. “The first year of college is challenging for any student, much less managing the additional demands of student-athletes in their given sport to compete in the nation’s toughest conference. The men and women that represent the University of Arkansas on the freshmen academic honor roll have proven that with hard work and dedication it is possible to achieve academic excellence while also attaining athletic success.”
