Razorbacks Rack Up SEC Weekly Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas harriers junior Scott MacPherson and freshman Lane Boyer have been named the SEC Cross Country Athlete and Freshman of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Scott MacPherson, after earning runner up honors at the same meet in 2006, won the 8K race at the Missouri Southern Stampede with a time of 23:46.00, an 8K personal best. He finished first out of the 313 competitors.

MacPherson paced the Razorbacks to the team title with 22 points. The next closest team finisher, Missouri Southern, scored 143 points. Arkansas remains undefeated on the season.

After a third-place finish at the Arkansas Duels and a first-place finish at the Missouri Southern Stampede, MacPherson has not finished outside of the top three this season. This weekend was also the first title win of his career. He also holds the SEC’s top 8K time of 23:46.

Lane Boyer made his Razorback debut at the Missouri Southern Stampede. Boyer was the Hogs’ fifth scorer and top UA freshmen finisher in 11th place with a time of 24:50. He was the second-fastest freshman overall behind Evans Kiptoo of Lindenwood (7th; 24:35.00).

Next up for head coach John McDonnell and the Razorbacks is the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, Sat. Sept. 29, in Stillwater, Okla.
