FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas men’s cross country team will open the 2013 season as the No. 5 team in the country with Tuesday’s release of the preseason coaches’ poll by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Razorbacks return 2012 All-American Kemoy Campbell for his senior season as well as SEC Freshman Runner of the Year Cale Wallace. Senior Solomon Haile also brings three years of cross country experience and awards including 2012 All-Region and First-Team All-SEC honors. Senior David Flynn also earned 2012 All-Region honors. In other preseason releases, the Razorbacks are the predicted favorites in the Southeastern Conference team race and the top-ranked team in the South Central region. Arkansas is the three-time defending conference champion, having most recently won the program’s 20th SEC cross country title in 2012. The Razorbacks have won seven consecutive conference titles dating back to the 2011 outdoor track and field title. Arkansas is the top-rated SEC team in the preseason national poll. Florida, the only other SEC team mentioned, will begin the season ranked 23rd in the country. Head coach Chris Bucknam and the Razorbacks begin their season Friday, Sept. 6, with a scheduled dual meet at Agri Park.
