Razorbacks ranked nationally

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ ninth-ranked gymnastics team is headed to Los Angeles for the NCAA West Regional at UCLA on April 10 and the Razorbacks are taking several highly ranked individuals with them.

Senior All-American Casey Jo Magee is No. 4 in the nation in the all-around while sophomore All-American Jaime Pisani is No. 14 and senior All-American Sarah Nagashima No. 33.

On vault, Pisani is No. 8 and Magee tied for No. 14. On bars, Magee is tied for No. 25 and senior Amy DeFilippo tied for No. 42. On beam, Magee is tied for No. 2 and Nagashima tied for No. 32. On floor, Pisani is tied for No. 10 and Magee tied for No. 19.

Overall, Arkansas is No. 9 in the nation, including No. 9 on beam, No. 11 on vault, No. 12 on floor and No. 13 on bars.

In the South Central Regional rankings, Arkansas is second overall. In the event rankings, the Razorbacks are No. 2 on beam, No. 3 on vault and bars, and No. 4 on floor.

Individually, Magee is No. 2 in the all-around, Pisani No. 3 and Nagashima No. 10.

On vault, Pisani is No. 2, Magee No. 5, freshman Kelci Lewis No. 28 and freshman Amanda Siebert tied for No. 30. On bars, Magee is tied for No. 5, DeFilippo is No. 8, Pisani tied for No. 13, Nagashima No. 15 and sophomore Mariah Howdeshell tied for No. 23.

On beam, Magee is No. 2, Nagashima tied for No. 8, DeFilippo tied for No. 16, Pisani tied for No. 19 and junior Stacy Bartlett tied for No. 23. On floor, Pisani is No. 3, Magee tied for No. 6 and Lewis No. 17.

Arkansas’ program has been in existence for eight seasons and the Razorbacks are in an NCAA Regional for the seventh straight year. Arkansas is the second seed in the West Regional behind No. 3 UCLA. Other teams in the region are No. 17 Iowa State, No. 21 Arizona, No. 26 Brigham Young and No. 32 Arizona State.

The top two teams from each region advance to the NCAA Championship, which is April 22-24 in Gainesville, Fla.

Arkansas has reached the NCAA Championship three times, included each of the last two years. Last year, the Razorbacks made it to the NCAA Super Six for the first time and finished fifth in the nation.
