Razorbacks ready for Georgia

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas football team practiced for an hour-plus on Thursday as they finished their preparations for their game on Saturday, September 19, against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Razorbacks’ game with the Bulldogs will air on ESPN with a 6:45 p.m. kickoff at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The following is an abbreviated transcript of head coach Bobby Petrino’s post-practice press conference.

Do the players realize how excited the state is"I don’t know if they realize that, but they are excited. The players are excited about it. This is something that they have invested a lot in, since January. All the workouts, all the spring ball, all the summer, getting up at six in the morning all for playing games like this. We are excited to see what kind of football team we are. I think that’s the biggest thing. I know that we are well prepared, I know that our players understand what the game plan is and we have a good idea of what Georgia is going to do. Of course we’ll have to adjust to something new because everyone always gives you something new and we did that well the last time we played. We got on the sideline and it all ran like we are more experienced and know each other better. We are ready to play."

How much improvement have you made on special teams"We’ll find out in a hurry because they are good. They are good on special teams. They have experienced guys, they play their starters, they put a lot emphasis on it. We’ll find out really quick how much improvement we have made."

On getting too excited"We’re not worried about getting too excited or too ready. We’ve been through this now for a year, we understand how we want to prepare. We came out and worked out extremely hard in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tonight we came out and were sharp and crisp. We are getting used to how we want to prepare for a game. Tonight we need to relax and focus mentally and spend a lot of time in the training room with our strength and conditioning staff stretching, cold baths, eating properly, we all have to get great sleep tonight to get their bodies in the best possible condition it can be Saturday night."
