Razorbacks Ready for Indians

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas football team practiced about 90 minutes Wednesday afternoon in full pads on the grass practice fields south of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The Razorbacks (1-3) had a good day of practice in preparation for Louisiana-Monroe’s (2-3) dual-threat quarterback Steven Jyles.

“We had a good, hard day of preparation with a lot of different sets they run,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “Their quarterback is a dual-threat quarterback; He can run and throw it well. And he has a 6-6 wide receiver (Drouzon Quillen) that is very, very good. He was player of the week in the Sun Belt last week.”

Nutt is pleased with the hard work and attitude that junior linebacker Sam Olajubutu has brought to the field for the Razorbacks so far this season.

“Sam Olajubutu, I’ll tell you what, just follow him,” Nutt said. “He comes to work every single day. I guess that is why he has the most tackles in the league. I am proud of his work ethic.”

The offense had good day as they continue to develop consistency, and sharpen their execution.

“The offense had a good day,” Nutt said. “We are just working on our different sets and finalizing the game plan. The key is executing and not stopping ourselves. If you look back at the first four games, we have stopped ourselves. We are able to make first downs, and we are able to score. But you just can’t stop yourself.”

The Hogs have reached a key point in their season according to Nutt. After an off week and a tough three-game stretch that included two of the nation’s top 10 teams (USC and Alabama), the Hogs are ready to get back to the business of winning football games.

“This game is a turning point in our season,” Nutt said. “It is a start to a new season and we have to get ready to go.”
