FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback football team completed preparations for their game on Saturday with Mississippi State with an hour-long practice inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The Razorbacks, 6-4, are set to take on the Bulldogs, 4-6, at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Ark., in what is the final game inside the state of Arkansas for the Razorbacks this season. The following is a brief transcript of head coach Bobby Petrino’s post-practice press conference.
On the week of practice"Our players are excited about the game. They’ve had good practice, good preparation. I think that we’ve had really good leadership from our seniors and captains so now it’s just time to go down to Little Rock and get us a win. I think that the guys have come with a lot of energy from day one, when we got out here Monday night and ran, Tuesday’s practice was good, Wednesday’s was good, today we were out there and guys were flying around and playing fast. Offensively, we were throwing and catching the ball the way that we would like to and defensively we were really flying to the ball."
Do you feel like this is a revenge game after losing last season"I really don’t, I heard a few mention it after our win on Saturday. This game has a lot to do with not winning down there last year. We just have to work on our preparation. A lot of times, getting mentally ready and emotionally ready takes care of itself. I think that is something that the vets are talking about, but as a coaching staff we really want to work on our preparation, understanding what we want to do, understand what they are going to try to do and making sure that we are doing things correctly on the practice field."
On the guys who were banged up"Stadther has had a good week. Unless something has happened tonight in practice he has really progressed and should be ready to play. David Gordon will be out."
What kind of schedule will you have"Tomorrow we are going to let them sleep in a little bit, get them up at 10 a.m. We’ll have meetings, special teams meetings, offense, defense meeting, and then we are going to go to the stadium and have a walkthrough. Then we’ll just have our normal Friday night stuff.
Last home game of the year"I think that we’ve played well at home. We’ve performed well, we feed off the fans and the fans have done a nice job for us. We’ve executed well offensively when you look at the performance as far as throwing and catching and being able to run the ball and guys making plays. Defensively we’ve created a bunch of turnovers and played fast. Let’s make sure we finish it that way.
