FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s golf team was well represented in tournament action around the world Tuesday. Freshmen Gabriela Lopez and Regina Plasencia welcome teammates Emily Tubert, Emma Lavy and Olivia Lavy to their home country for the LXXXVIII Mexican Women’s Amateur Championship Jan. 8-11, at the Club de Golf Bellavista in Calocaya, Mexico. Lopez is coming off a solid performance helping Team Mexico to a runner-up finish at the Copa de las Americas last weekend in Florida. Plasencia paced the Razorback participants shooting a 73 in the first round. Plasencia opened with a 38 on the front nine and shot 37 on the back nine for 73. Tubert shot 75 in the first round with a 37 on the front nine and a 38 on the second nine. Lopez opened with a 74, carding a 36 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine. Senior Emma Lavy opened with an 80 turning with a 38 and counting 42 on the second nine. Olivia Lavy fired a first round 81. The redshirt Razorback carded a 41 on the front nine and 40 on the back. Sophomore Hally Leadbetter is competing in her home state of Florida this week as well. Leadbetter is taking part in the SunCoast Ladies Series in Orlando, Fla. She opened with a four-over 77 in the first round yesterday with play continuing through Wednesday. Leadbetter counted a 75 in the second round for 152 and a tie for 13th with one round remaining.
