Razorbacks shutout in Georgia 6-0
FAYETTEVILLE– The No. 41 University of Arkansas men’s tennis got knocked down in Georgia this weekend but the Hogs will bounce back on March 28 at home to welcome the Tennessee Volunteers to the Dills Indoor Tennis Center. Arkansas dropped to the Bulldogs, 6-0.
The Bulldogs came out strong taking the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. At the No. 1 position, Christopher Nott and Nikolas Zogaj battled for the advantage but Schnugg and Hunt were able to edge the win, 8-6. The newly found tandem of Matt Walters and Michael Ward were leading 8-7 over Bo Seal and Christian Vitulli before the match was suspended.
Georgia rode the winning momentum into singles play not dropping a match. Garrapiz earned the Bulldogs first singles victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Nikolas Zogaj. The Bulldogs clinched the match as Seal defeated Ward, 7-5, 6-3. The teams played out the match on the top court as Nott and Schnugg battled in a tightly contested match. Nott owned the early advantage taking the first set 6-3, but Schnugg rallied back to even the score at a set apiece. The duo continued to battle but Schnugg was able to break Nott to pull away with the match in the third set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(6).
Senior Bradwin Williams dropped the first set to Will Oliver but was making a strong 3-0 comeback in the second set before the match was suspended.
