FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas women’s tennis team will be split up this weekend as senior Anouk Tigu and sophomore Claudine Paulson will head out west to compete in the ITA Riviera All-American Tournament in Los Angeles, while the rest of the team will be competing in the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. Both tournaments run through Sunday.
Coming into the All-American Tournament, Tigu is 3-0 on the season in singles and is entered in the main draw. In her first match, Tigu is slated to play Mary Clayton from Duke.
In doubles, Tigu will team up with Paulson Both players together have a 2-1 doubles record and have won two straight entering the weekend.
“I’m definitely excited to see Anouk (Tigu) and Claudine (Paulson) compete in the premier individual tournament of the fall semester,” said head coach Michael Hegarty. “Everybody’s top player will be there and we will test ourselves against the best.”
The remaining players on the team will be competing at the UCF Invitational, which runs from Friday through Sunday. Along with Arkansas, the teams competing will be UCF, Purdue, and Missouri.
Freshman Jade Frampton enters the tournament on a four match winning streak after winning her flight of the Sooner Classic two weeks ago. So far this fall, Frampton has recorded a 5-2 record.
“This event is much like the Sooner Classic,” said assistant coach Audrey Bordeleau. “It is designed to get us a ton of solid matchplay at a great development time of the fall season. I am excited to see how well we can play.”
