FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team, now 22-19 overall and 4-15 in the Southeastern Conference, will host UMKC for a single non-conference game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Bogle Park. Arkansas is coming into the mid-week matchup on a three-game winning streak. The Razorbacks split a mid-week doubleheader with Kentucky last week, winning the second game 7-3. They then continued their momentum into the doubleheader against University of Tennessee-Martin on Saturday where they won 6-4 and 4-2. Shortstop Clarisa Navarro continues to lead the team at the plate batting .361 on the season with seven home runs and 23 RBI. Sophomore catcher Jayme Gee has stepped up her game in the past few weeks averaging .500 at the plate in the past four games as well as being a solid staple on defense. "Jayme is attacking the ball and getting herself in good hitting count," says head coach Mike Larabee. In the circle, freshman Kimmy Beasley, the SEC Freshman of the Week, has recorded some stellar games going 3-1 last week while also collecting her first SEC career victory. UMKC has an overall record of 18-22 and 6-9 in the Summit League. The Kangaroos are coming off a weekend where they dropped a series 2-1 to IUPUI. UMKC is led at the plate by senior Kaelene Curry who is batting .336 on the season while starting 39 of the 40 games. Junior Deanna Freise and freshman Cinda Ramos have split the majority of the time in the circle with Freise compiling an ERA of 2.74 and Ramos 3.49."UMKC has a very solid pitcher," says Larabee. "They came down here and defeated us last year. To win, we will just need to come out and play our game. It doesn’t matter who we are playing if we play our game we have a great chance of winning."

This will be the eighth overall meeting between the two programs with Arkansas leading the series 6-1. The last time they met was last year when the Kangaroos stole one from Arkansas, defeating the Razorbacks 2-1 in Fayetteville.
