Razorbacks visit elementary school

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshmen Marshawn Powell, Glenn Bryant and Julysses Nobles visited students at Parson Hills Elementary School in Springdale on Tuesday afternoon, speaking to the assembled students about the importance of working hard and staying in school to pursue their dreams.

The Razorbacks visited with two groups of students in the school gym and stressed the importance of school while also displaying some of their athletic ability with a variety of dunks which brought huge cheers from those assembled. Following their talk, each Razorback selected a student from the audience and gave them quick pointers on their shooting before shaking hands and ending the session.

"It is always important to get out into the community and visit with people young and old," Arkansas Director of Operations Damon Jones said. "We feel that this is a learning experience for our players and allows people in the community to interact with these young men and see that they are more than just basketball players."

The Arkansas men’s basketball team has taken part in several community service projects this season including visiting the Washington County Juvenile Detention Center on Thanksgiving to deliver meals, playing with kids at a local game stop at Christmas and going to a local retirement community to spend time with patients.
