Razorbacks Walk a Mile . . .

FAYETTEVILLE – Member of several University of Arkansas athletic teams participated in the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event on campus Tuesday night, an annual international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence.

Members of Arkansas’ men’s and women’s basketball teams and volleyball squad were in attendance at the event which began at the Chi Omega Greek Theatre with an opening ceremony. Arkansas men’s basketball’s Director of Student-Athlete Development Scotty Thurman spoke briefly to the hundreds in attendance before setting out on a walk around campus that went from the Greek Theatre to Arkansas Avenue, over to Maple Street and back north to Garland Ave., before finally ending at the Arkansas Union.

The "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" event began in 2001 and has grown over the years. The annual march is held each October as a part of domestic violence awareness month.
