FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas softball team rounded out its 2015 season Sunday afternoon at Bogle Park, dropping a narrow 1-0 decision to No. 4 Alabama. For the second consecutive game, the Razorbacks (16-37, 1-23 SEC) played in front of 1,000+ fans (1,004).

Sunday’s season finale marked Senior Day and Arkansas’ five seniors – Sierra Bronkey, Kala Crisp, Kasey Fagan, Megan Pearson, and Devon Wallace – were all honored in a pregame ceremony. Additionally, all five seniors were in the starting lineup – Bronkey at second, Crisp in left, Fagan at short, Pearson at first and Wallace as the designated player.

Alabama broke a scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning, bringing home the game’s only run on a two-out RBI single up the middle.

Freshman Haley Meinen drew the start in the circle and turned in a masterful performance. She pitched a career-high 7.0 innings – her second career complete game – while giving up only five hits and one earned run.

The game proved to be a pitcher’s duel throughout as Meinen only allowed two runners to advance into scoring position in the first six innings. On the other side, Alabama starter Sydney Littlejohn allowed Arkansas to advance past first base just once.

Junior Stephanie Canfield finished the afternoon 2-for-3 at the plate, her 13th multi-hit game this season and her third of the series. She led the team in batting in the season’s final series, hitting .600 while also a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts.

Senior Sierra Bronkey closed out her senior season on Sunday by tallying her second multi-hit game of the season, including a single to right in the bottom of the seventh.
