@RazorbackSB Downed by Mizzou in Series Opener

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Giving up six runs in the opening frame, Arkansas was defeated by No. 20/20-ranked Missouri 9-0 in five innings Friday evening at Bogle Park. The Razorbacks (15-28, 1-15 SEC) and Tigers (29-10, 9-7) are set to play game two of the series Saturday at 1 p.m., and the game will be available on SEC Network+. Saturday’s game is “Bark in the Park at Bogle Park” as well as Military Appreciation Day.

The Razorbacks struggled to get the bats going against Mizzou starter Tori Finucane in the series opener. Freshman Jessie Mullen accounted for one of the team’s three hits as she continues to heat up at the plate, batting an even .400 while starting each of the last three games at second base.

Freshman Madison Yannetti maintained her team-leading .385 batting average in league games, finishing Friday’s contest 1-for-2.

Junior Claire Clark keeps rolling along at the plate, ending Friday’s game 1-for-2 and is batting .300 in the last four games.

Arkansas starter Sydney Wright took the loss (10-10) after being tagged for six runs in the top half of the first inning. Six runs right off the bat proved to be a key difference maker as Haley Meinen stepped in and turned in a solid pitching performance for the Razorbacks. Meinen finished out the game for Arkansas, pitching 4.2 innings while scattering seven hits and giving up three earned runs.
