@RazorbackSB Drop Weekend Finale at Dot Richardson Invitational

CLERMONT, Fla. – The University of Arkansas softball held the lead through four innings but Chattanooga rallied for the 7-3 win Sunday morning in the team’s finale at the Dot Richardson Invitational. Shelby Hiers and Loren Krzysko each had an RBI in the game but the Mocs used a five-run fifth inning to come away with the win. With Sunday’s result, Arkansas drops to 3-7 through the first two weeks of the 2015 campaign.

After spending the first two weeks of the season on the road, the Razorbacks return to Fayetteville for their home opener Feb. 20-22 at Bogle Park. Arkansas will host the four-team Razorback Invitational which is also set to feature Creighton, Jacksonville State and Northern Colorado. Trailing by one, the Arkansas offense generated a pair of runs in the top half of the fourth inning. Hiers drove a triple to the fence in right center to score Parker Pocklington from first. The sophomore catcher then came around to score on a throw down to second base on an Autumn Russell steal. The Razorbacks added their third run on an RBI base hit by Krzysko in the fifth and led 3-2.

Chattanooga (6-4) responded with a five runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a two-run triple by its lead-off hitter. The Mocs batted around in the frame which left Arkansas trailing by four with six outs to play with. The Razorbacks had two runners on in the sixth with one out but were retired on a pair of putouts by the shortstop. The game ended on a ground by to third.

Grace Moll struck out three Chattanooga hitters in Sunday’s game but took the loss. Sydney Wright came on in relief for two innings of shutout pitching. The Jacksonville, Fla., native also had a base hit in the game.
