FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For its performance in the classroom last year, the University of Arkansas softball team had 10 student-athletes earn 2013-14 NFCA Division I All-America Scholar-Athlete distinction. Collectively, the Razorbacks also secured a spot on the NFCA All-Academic Team list.
The Razorbacks’ list of individual honors featured Rachel Box, Jayme Gee, Amanda Geile, Shelby Hiers, Loren Krzysko, Ashley Martindale, Grace Moll, Parker Pocklington, Devon Wallace and Kelly Young. Individuals needed to maintain a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA to earn academic mention. Six of those listed—Box, Hiers, Krzysko, Moll, Pocklington, Moll—return for the 2014-15 season.
Collectively, Arkansas posted a 3.20 team GPA in 2013-14 to secure its NFCA spot. The Razorbacks were one of 73 Division I teams in the country to post a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Under sixth-year head coach Mike Larabee, the Razorbacks begin their 2014 fall schedule Oct. 5 with a doubleheader at Oklahoma State. The twinbill is scheduled for a 1 p.m. (CT) start at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater. Arkansas’ first home date of the fall is Oct. 8 when it hosts Evangel at Bogle Park.
