@RazorbackSB Swept by No. 5 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Arkansas softball team suffered its third straight defeat to No. 5 LSU, falling 7-1 Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park. Arkansas drops to 12-10 and 0-3 in conference while LSU is undefeated at 25-0, 3-0.

After playing 22 consecutive games away from home, the Razorbacks return to Fayetteville and Bogle Park for their home opener on Tuesday, March 10 against Tulsa. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be broadcasted on SECN+.

Playing in its season opening Southeastern Conference series, Arkansas narrowly missed out on the opportunity to score runs early in the series finale against the Tigers. Devon Wallace led off the game with a walk and Stephanie Canfield delivered a one-out single to right but Jessica Harrison flew out to the wall in the deepest part of the yard in straightaway center to end the threat.

Grace Moll, starting her fourth game of the season, held the Tigers off the board in the first inning as she worked out of a one-out, runners on second and third jam.

LSU would plate two in the bottom half of the second on just one hit. A leadoff single followed by a walk and then a wild pitch set up runners at second and third. An RBI groundout to short scored one run and then a passed ball scored the second run.

Moll again got out of a jam in the third inning, using a 1-2-3 double play to escape bases loaded.

Arkansas went down in order in the third and fourth innings. LSU put up a five-spot in the fourth, aided by a grand slam from Sahvannah Jaquish.

The Razorbacks plated their run of the game in the fifth inning. Sierra Bronkey led off with a walk and advanced to second on an error. Wallace brought home the run with a single to right.
