@RazorbackTF Women up to No. 3 in USTFCCCA Rankings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas women’s track and field team has moved up to No. 3 in Monday’s release of the USTFCCCA national rankings. The Razorbacks are up four spots from seventh in the preseason poll. The team returns to its home track this weekend to host the John McDonnell Invitational, beginning Friday afternoon.

Arkansas collected four top-10 national marks last weekend at the Stanford Invitational including an NCAA-leading time at 10,000 meters by Dominique Scott. She broke the school record with a time of 32:11.60. Other top-10 marks came from Chrishuna Williams at 800 meters (third, 2:03.77), Shannon Klenke in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (fifth, 10:07.62) and Taliyah Brooks in the long jump (ninth, 20-6.25).

Along with the team’s nationally ranked performances, the Razorbacks picked up three wins at the Stanford Invitational with the efforts by Brooks, Sandi Morris in the pole vault and Rebekka Simko at 1,500 meters. The first-place finish for Morris extended her winning streak to six-consecutive meets dating back to the indoor season. She led a 1-2-3 finish in the event followed by teammates Ariel Voskamp and Desiree Freier, respectively.

Join the Razorbacks’ men’s and women’s track and field coaching staffs Tuesday afternoon as they host the fourth ‘In the Zone’ luncheon at Jose’s Mexican Restaurant in Fayetteville. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. (CT) with the event beginning at noon. The lunch is open to all fans, media and local track officials.

This week’s John McDonnell Invitational is set to also feature No. 13 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Missouri, Kansas, Memphis, Minnesota, Missouri State and Tulsa. Field events at the John McDonnell Invitational begin Friday at 1:30 p.m. with running events to start at 3:30 p.m. Saturday’s action picks up at noon.
