LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Razorback volleyball team capped its weekend with a four-set loss to No. 24 Kansas Saturday night in the finale of the Jayhawk Classic. For their respective performances during the two-day, three-match round robin, senior Meredith Hays and junior Chanell Clark-Bibbs earned spots on the all-tournament team. During the match, junior libero Monica Bollinger moved into the program’s top 25 for career digs.
Facing an 0-2 deficit on the road, the Razorbacks saved a pair of match points in the third set to extend play. Hays closed out the set with back-to-back kills including the winner on an overpassed ball. The senior outside hitter finished the match with a team-high 13 kills and with nine digs, was just shy of her would-be fifth double-double of the year. Hays averaged 4.36 kills per set during the Jayhawk Classic.
In earning her second all-tournament honor of the season, Clark-Bibbs totaled 22 kills and 10 total blocks over the course of three matches. Half of her block total came in Saturday’s match against Kansas. She also turned in a 10-kill effort in Friday’s four-set win over North Texas.
With her 14th dig of the night, Bollinger moved into sole possession of 25th place on the program’s all-time list. She finished the match with a team-high 16 digs and now has 562 scoops in her Razorback career. Bollinger now heads into the SEC-opening weekend just 38 digs shy of becoming the 24th player in program history to reach 600 career digs.
