TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will make its third appearance of the season on the SEC Network Sunday afternoon with its road match at Alabama. First serve of the SEC contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT) at Foster Auditorium in Tuscaloosa. With 10 matches remaining in the regular season, the Razorbacks are 11-10 overall with a 5-3 record in conference play.
For Sunday’s television broadcast, Melissa Lee and Missy Whittemore will handle the play-by-play and color commentary duties, respectively. The match will also be available online through the WatchESPN app. With Sunday’s appearance, three of the Razorbacks’ last six matches have been played on the SEC Network.
In the team’s last outing, junior middle blocker Chanell Clark-Bibbs turned in a season-high performance with 17 kills in a loss to No. 16 Kentucky. She eclipsed her previous best of 14 kills which she had Oct. 5 against LSU. Defensively, junior libero Monica Bollinger had a match-high 16 digs and moved into 19th place on the program’s all-time digs list. She is now 21 shy of her 700th career dig. Collectively, the Razorbacks had 55 digs against UK which is a season high in a three-set match.
Arkansas owns a 32-9 advantage in the all-time series against Alabama and has won 12 of 18 matches between the two teams played in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide won both matchups last season with a pair of four-set victory. Arkansas had won the previous seven meetings in the series. Dating back to the 2007 season, 11 of the last 12 meetings between Arkansas and Alabama have gone at least four sets.
Following Sunday’s match, the Razorbacks return to the road Oct. 31 to close out the month and begin the second half of their conference schedule with a matchup against Missouri in Columbia, Mo. First serve of that match is set for 6:30 p.m. Arkansas’ next home match is Nov. 2 when the team hosts LSU at Barnhill Arena.
