FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas women’s basketball team opens Southeastern Conference Tournament Wednesday taking on Ole Miss in a first round game at 7:30 p.m. The game will air live on FOXSports, check local listings for the exact channels in your area. Arkansas is making its 23rd appearance at the SEC Tournament since joining the league in 1992. The Razorbacks have put together 10 tournament wins, reaching the semifinals in 2001 and 2002. Razorback head coach Tom Collen is just 1-6 in SEC Tournament games since joining Arkansas as a head coach in 2007-08. Despite the tough record at the league tournament, Collen guided the Razorbacks to the program’s best seeding in 2012 when the Razorbacks went into the weekend as a fifth seed. This year, the Razorbacks face Ole Miss, a team they defeated during the regular season this year in Fayetteville. Arkansas has faced Ole Miss and Florida five times each in the SEC Tournament and has a 2-3 tourney record against the Lady Rebels. Arkansas, however, has won its last four meetings over the Lady Rebels including a win in the first round win in the 2012 SEC Tournament under Collen. In the most recent meeting between these teams, Arkansas come out with a nail-biting 68-65 win in Fayetteville. Freshman Jessica Jackson scored a career-best 31 points on 11-for-22 shooting. Jackson was 5-for-7 from three-point range and grabbed 10 rebounds in her double-double effort. Sophomore Melissa Wolff added 14 points and junior Jhasmin Bowen had 11 for Arkansas while junior point guard Calli Berna recorded 12 assists in the win.
