FAYETTEVILLE – Head coach Michael Hegarty and the University of Arkansas women’s tennis program announced the addition of Luc Godin to its coaching staff in the role of assistant coach.
Beginning his first year with the Razorbacks in the 2014-15 season, Godin brings a resume loaded with experience to Fayetteville. Godin joins the Razorbacks coaching staff after most recently having served as the assistant coach for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette’s men’s and women’s tennis program. During his one season with Louisiana-Lafayette he helped steer the men’s program to a Sunbelt Conference Championship, an NCAA Tournament appearance and a final ITA ranking of No. 63.
Godin also brings with him previous experience from the Southeastern Conference as he was the women’s assistant coach at Auburn from 2011-13. During his time with the Tigers, he helped the program go from unranked to as high as No. 13 in the ITA polls.
Godin’s other coaching stints include women’s head coach at Northwestern State in 2010-11, men’s head coach at Drury University in 2009-10, assistant women’s coach at Northwestern State in 2007-09, and assistant men’s and women’s coach at Tyler Junior College from 2000-02. From 2003-07 he also served as the Director of Tennis at the ATP Training Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
A native of Petit-rocher, New Brunswick, Canada, Godin was a top-ranked junior player in Canada and competed in several future and semi-professional tournaments in North America before turning to coaching full-time in 1998.
