@RazorbackWTEN Takes Five Matches On Day Two Of Brown Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team won five of its six matches on Saturday during the second day of play from the Brown Classic in Providence, R.I. The Razorbacks won both of their doubles matches and three of four singles matches.

“We took a step forward for the most part today,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “What we aim for tomorrow is to have our most complete performance of the fall season from a competitive standpoint.”

Arkansas continued its strong doubles showing at the tournament, winning twice on Saturday and moving to 4-0 in doubles for the weekend. Junior Makenzie Craft and sophomore Nastassia Rubel teamed to defeated Kristina Vozniak and Yana Nikolaeva of Stony Brook, 8-6. The duo of freshmen Mia Jurasic and Peyton Jennings won over Louise Badoche and Elizabeth Tsvetkov of Stony Brook, 8-3.

On the singles end, Rubel won her second singles match of the tournament, nearly sweeping Stony Brook’s Vozniak and winning, 6-1, 6-0. Jurasic claimed a win against Nikolaeva, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win. Jennings capped the third win for the Hogs, pitching a second-set shutout en route to a 6-4, 6-0 win over Badoche.

Arkansas will conclude play from the Brown Classic on Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday will additionally mark the final team competition date of the fall schedule for the Razorbacks.
