FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team heads off to Providence, R.I., this weekend for its sixth and final tournament of the fall at the Brown Classic Nov. 7-9. This will be the first competition for the team since wrapping up play at the ITA Central Regional Championships on Oct. 19.
Among the teams joining Arkansas in the field include host Brown, Stony Brook and Utah. The tournament will be conducted in a hidden dual format. Play will begin at 10 a.m. each day.
“The Brown Classic is an excellent way to complete the fall season,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “All the teams will be looking to finish the fall competitive season on a high note.”
Junior Makenzie Craft, sophomore Nastassia Rubel and freshmen Peyton Jennings and Mia Jurasic are scheduled to compete at the tournament.
Craft, who transferred in this season, has made quite the splash in her first few months as a Razorback. Her fall singles record stands at 7-5 and among her accomplishments include advancing to the Round of 16 at the ITA Central Regional Championships as well as claiming a runner-up finish at the Oklahoma Sooner Invite in September.
Rubel owns a 2-5 singles record and will be playing in her third tournament of the fall.
Jurasic, owning a 3-10 fall record, and Jennings, with a 5-7 fall record, will both be playing in their fourth fall tournament. Jennings additionally finished runner-up in her flight at the Colorado Invitational in September.
